So... I live in a 100 year old house. (Seriously, built in 1905.)
It's cool, has charm, and is pretty much modernized. Only the 40 year old furnace gave out about a month ago.
I've actually been wearing LONG UNDERWEAR to work (i.e. in my office). One morning my office was 45 degrees (before I lugged in a space heater and got it working).
Sandpoint is currently experiencing an insane building boom - to the point where no one in Sandpoint could come in and 'fix' our heater until the end of February. So we contracted with a company in another state to come in and fix things. They're coming today (we're replacing our underpowered, but 'cute', wall-furnace with a full-blown hvac system - VENTS in all the rooms).
I won't even tell you of the stupidities thrust upon us by the local building department and it's utterly inept bureaucrats. Well, I will just say this: hell hath no fury like a sullen and lazy bureaucrat - they do an incredible job of taking out their petty frustrations with life on others. We got a royal run-around trying to secure a building permit on a Friday afternoon - for NOTHING. No really, for nothing. The idiot at the building office just had a stick up her butt because she didn't want to do any paper work (a call to the same office, with the same info, same requirements, etc.) resulted in a 10 minute call that explained everything that needed to be done.
