The originals are great by themselves. They are Lucas' movies and he is the artist, so we have to deal with his whims. But, what Lucas is totally discounting is that the technology did not exist to do what he wanted. It is just like the idea that I wanted to surf down a mountainside when I was a kid, but snowboards were not around, so I couldn't. I had a really good time skiing though. Another problem is that Lucas thinks that the CG is good enough to work with our suspension of disbelief. I am sorry, but a lot of that stuff just doesn't fit. It doesn't look right with the movie back then. It looks animated. But, Yoda does not look like a puppet to me in the originals. Jabba maybe. I think CG has come a long way, but it's still not there. Lucas is going to go back in 10 more years and say: Oh, that looks terrible! Let's fix it again! George Lucas is essentially Michael Jackson.
