This boggles my mind. The assumption here is that the guy WAS watching TV when he plowed-head on into another car and killed two people.
He sure had a GREAT lawyer. A lawyer soooo good that he managed to make everyone logically agree that there's no law preventing you from watching TV while you drive. For that matter, there probably isn't a law preventing you from reading Playboy while you drive... and a host of other things.
It kills me that people could even THINK about addressing this via legislation. How stupid are people
Can't the guy just be charged with reckless endangerment Or is TV non-reckless or maybe it's non-endangering So he couldn't have been reckless when he stopped watching the road and started watching TV. (I'm not even going to comment on the stupidity of mounting a TV to your DashBoard...)
there's no law against driving while swallowing swords either or while making bread or quilting or playing XBOX

UPDATE: Quote: Petterson testified he was not watching a movie and that his truck strayed into oncoming traffic when he reached for a soda. -- Damn, looks like we need MORE legislation. When will legislatures make us safe?
