So, my copy of Sahil Malik's Pro ADO.NET 2.0 just showed up today. I haven't had time to read through it yet (but I've heard good things about it, and I've been impressed with some of the stuff that Sahil has thrown up in his blog about ADO.NET 2.0 - so I'm expecting the book to be excellent), but I did notice that the font of the book told me I could get a digital copy of the book for free.
As much as I love books, and prefer to read them in their analog form, I also love having a digital copy around (especially if I can read it in FoxIt (Adobe Reader is just such a resource hog that it takes the fun out of digital books)).
All I had to do to get the free digital copy was register the book with my email addy and then answer a simple question about the contents of the book in less than 60 seconds. (i.e. what's the picture of on page such and such, or something similar). Then presto, an 8MB .pdf of the entire book (everything, not just chapters, but a complete digital book) free for download (and the .pdf is passworded with my email addy).
Spiffy.
