I got a kick out of watching the marketing folks at MS work themselves into a frenzy over this one:
Here's Part of the Download Page for ActiveStink 4.5 (screen capture):
I was in a hurry to install - so imagine my double-take when I couldn't immediately find English where it was supposed to be (you know, between the D and the F)...
My bad: I'd forgotten that English has been transformed into _Worldwide English_.
So... in an attempt to avoid appearing ethnocentric (i.e. non-politically correct), English has now been taken away from Brits, Americans, Canadians, etc... and given to the world. Only doesn't that impose, in an ethnocentric fashion, English upon the rest of the world?
Kind of reminds me of a dog chasing its tail... only that doesn't require a meeting of 3-12 people to figure out the best way to proceed... (as I'm sure the 'Worldwide English' 'promotion' did...).
