In a Past Life....
When I was young I spent a few years working for an insulation company - installing fiberglass batts and even working on a 'blow' truck - installing cellulose insulation.
Dirty Jobs
Recently an episode of Dirty Jobs featured Mike Rowe taking on cellulose - a truly dirty job. It was cool to sit down with my 6 year old son (Caleb) and tell him that I used to do things very similar to what was being shown on TV as a Dirty Job (one of our favorite shows around here).
Overheard
This morning my wife overheard Caleb talking to Nora (almost 3 years old) to the tune of: "Back when dad had a job, he did installation...."
Back when I HAD a job - as opposed to now. I think my kids assume that I like computers so much that I just lock myself into my office with them for the greater part of the day.
Great story! Your kids obviously recognize the fact that you are happy with your work. You are retreating into the office "to play."
That is just one of the things I love about working from home: It doesn't feel as much like work, even when you have to do things you don't want to do.
There are true perils, of course. Here I am, at my computer, at 6:00 am. But hey, I'm reading Mikey's blog and I'm happy!
