Finally:
VMware releases Workstation 6.5 (private beta) with Unity Feature
Honestly, I can't wait.
And I still maintain that Vista should have gone this route. It would have let them add in all the spiffy features that they promised over the 5-7 years while it was in development and retain backwards compat by simply hosting 'windows' into your old apps running on a VM.
With MS's resources they could have easily created a killer 'unity' interface that would have put them light-years ahead of the competition. Instead they spent years trying to shoe-horn things into place and finally ended up having to cut out features left and right just to finally get something to ship after a while.
To hell with Vista
And if it sounds like I'm bitter against Vista - I am. I tried installing it on a dual-boot partition 2x this weekend. Both attempts strangely just failed. After rebooting, neither attempt would complete the installation process - though neither threw out warnings or problems. Honestly, that was a bit of a shocker - as well as a severe let down as I had decided (once again) to give it another stab. At this point (despite all the negative press around Vista - which I think is mostly designed to generate buzz), I sadly have to throw in the towel on Vista until I can get a solid SP1 disk to try out.
In fact, to hell with Vista. Once I can get my hands on VMware 6.5 I'll likely look very seriously at running Ubuntu - and just access Outlook, VS2008, and all my other apps through a VM.
In other words, VMware Workstation 6.5 is going to be HUGE.

I agree so much I can't wait for 6.5 myself I hear its going to have full Direct X Support meaning I can virtulize windows fully and not have that virus prone windows system installed on a partition on my hard drive I just run it all from Linux.
A Breakthrew to a new computer revolution will now be possible. lol :)
