Video is worth a thousand words.
And yes. This is the last post I’ll do with Windows Live Writer. (Sorry guys, I’d be fine with it if it were second… it’s a distant last at this point.)
Going to try out BlogJet. Wonder why MS thought it was a good idea to get rid of NORMAL view. That thing was perfect. I could write up an entire post with it, preview it… and everything would be spiffy.
Oh well...instead Live Writer now just throws <p> tags EVERYWHERE (and sometimes arbitrarily double-nests them around your paragraphs such that hitting enter causes a new paragraph to be started ABOVE where you were working). Quite sad really.
UPDATE: Scott Lovegrove posted a solution (in the comments) to the evil I encountered by pointing out how to turn off the ‘Edit usingTheme’ functionality. That effectively turns ‘Normal View’ editing back on – which is exactly what I want.
I think I'll stick with my v12 that I still use. :-)

Yeah, only you left off the satanic experience of inserting an image with its 100 filthy stylistic growths.

Yeah, v12 was GREAT. I loved it. Sadly, LiveWriter is part of LIVE... so it looks like it's pretty much impossible to get an older version.
And... I would have shown MUCH more of what makes this tool absurdly infuriating.. but I was afraid I'd end up cursing on camera... ;)

Why not just turn off "Edit with Theme" which would then give you the same as the normal view did.

Wow, how vague was I in that last comment... Sorry, to turn off edit with theme go to Edit > Edit using Theme. Or use Ctrl+F11.
PS, did you ping @jcheng or @brandonturner at all about this? If not, you definitely should, cos they would be very interested in seeing this so that it can get fixed.

Hey,
I am sorry you are having problems with Windows Live Writer, these are usually theme related. If you want you to go back to normal video. Try doing Control+F11 or View > Uncheck 'Edit using themes'.
Also, if you email me your theme from C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Windows Live Writer\blogtemplates I would love to take a look at it and figure out what is causing Windows Live Writer to act so funny. I have seen and fixed similar problems before.
Once again, I am sorry you are having trouble, normal video should still work for you though.
Feel free to contact me at [email protected] or @BrandonTurner on twitter.
